SQUAT- To Get Faster!

To get faster, you need to be doing squats.  Why?  Speed trainer, Adam Kessler says squats will help to strengthen the muscles in your legs with a movement similar to what is used when you sprint.  Squats hit the glutes, quads and hamstrings in one move.  There are several different types of squats; each one targets a slightly different part of the muscle(s) in your legs.  Do you go parallel or below?  To see this Columbus, Ohio trainers response and how he incorporates squats in his speed training, click here:  SQUAT- To Get Faster

Is Speed Training Beneficial For Distance Runners?

Does speed training only benefit sprinters or short distance runners?  Speed trainer, Adam Kessler has 3 former clients that are currently running cross country at division I schools.  So he believes it can benefit both.  Getting stronger through strength training while distance training, an athlete will expend less energy powering the muscles and spend more energy on the cardiovascular output.  This will keep them running longer at a faster pace, on flat surfaces and inclines.  To read more about this Columbus, Ohio trainers views and how he would train distance athletes, click here:  Is Speed Training Beneficial For Distance Runners?
