SQUAT- To Get Faster!
To get faster, you need to be doing squats. Why? Speed trainer, Adam Kessler says squats will help to strengthen the muscles in your legs with a movement similar to what is used when you sprint. Squats hit the glutes, quads and hamstrings in one move. There are several different types of squats; each one targets a slightly different part of the muscle(s) in your legs. Is Speed Training Beneficial For Distance Runners?
Does speed training only benefit sprinters or short distance runners? Speed trainer, Adam Kessler has 3 former clients that are currently running cross country at division I schools. So he believes it can benefit both. Getting stronger through strength training while distance training, an athlete will expend less energy powering the muscles and spend more energy on the cardiovascular output. A recent documentary on ESPN, 9.79, takes a look back at the 1988 Olympic 100M dash between Ben Johnson and Carl Lewis. Speed Training- What Is It?
Today, Adam Kessler, gives further explanation of what, exactly, speed training is. For a majority of the athletes Adam trains, it means getting faster in short distances. Not everyone will be an Olympic sprinter, but, everyone can be faster than what they are today.
